The slain military personnel drawn from the Operation Lafiya Dole were on administration patrol from Maiduguri when they encountered an Improvised Explosive Device and ambush by insurgents.

The Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel SANI USMAN said the ambush was eventually cleared and three Boko Haram terrorists were killed by the troops.

He said the soldiers also recovered a Machine Gun, one AK-47 rifle and some quantity of ammunition.

The Army spokesman also said sixteen soldiers and three members of the Civilian JTF were wounded in the encounter, while two vehicles that entered the IED were badly damaged.

Still from the north-east of Nigeria; soldiers have also repelled an attack at Logomani along Dikwa-Gambarou road in Borno State.

The spokesman of the Nigerian Army said remnant of Boko Haram launched three waves of attack on troops, using thirty-six hand grenades and Rocket Propelled Launchers.

Colonel SANI USMAN said the troops fought gallantly and repelled the attack which lasted for about one hour.

He said at the end of the fierce encounter, the troops counted twenty-two dead bodies of Boko Haram fighters.

They also recovered two AK-47 rifles, one FN rifle, one G3 rifle and about thirty-six hand grenades.

However; four soldiers were killed and their rifles stolen, while two soldiers were wounded in action.

Elsewhere; troops of One Division of the Nigerian Army have repelled a coordinated attack by gunmen on Godogodo town in Kaduna State.

Army spokesman, Colonel SANI USMAN said the troops fought off the attackers and pursued them into the bush, inflicting heavy casualty on them.

He said the combined security team also arrested six suspects whose names were given as LAWAL GAMBO, YAU SANI, BALA AMODU, IBRAHIM MAIKARU, ABUBAKAR HASSAN and BASHIRU ISA CIROMA. 

However; four local vigilante members lost their life in the encounter while nine others were wounded.
