The Federal High Court in Abuja has again affirmed the statutory authority of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission to investigate consumer complaints relating to airline ticket pricing.
The court dismissed a suit filed by Air Peace Limited, which had challenged the Commission’s powers to probe complaints involving the pricing of its flight tickets. In its ruling, the court upheld the FCCPC’s mandate to protect consumers and investigate alleged unfair practices in the marketplace.
The decision strengthens the Commission’s role in the aviation sector and clears the way for it to continue handling complaints from passengers over airfare pricing and other consumer protection issues.
