Olympus Marino Deck Takes Campaign Against Drug Abuse to Port Harcourt Schools and Markets

The Capoon, Olympus Marino Deck, Port Harcourt branch of the National Association of Seadogs, Pirates Confraternity, Kennedy Barango who spoke to newsmen after sensitizing students and traders said the decision to carry out the advocacy is aimed at catching them young.

Barango advised the people against engaging in activities of drug abuse and trafficking, warning that involvement in illicit drug actions is caused by insecurity and criminal activities in the country.

Barango however, encouraged families, religious leaders, civil society organizations and government at all levels to join in the campaign against drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking which he said will go a long way in reducing its implications in the society.

Also speaking at the event, a representative of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Esther Ozuruba, highlighted the dangers of intake of hard drugs in the body and resolve of the agency zero tolerance to such act, just as he advised young people to avoid intake of illicit drugs

 

Today FM’S Uchendu Ejiowhor reports that while members of the Olympus Marino Deck, Port Harcourt branch collaborated with Nigeria Medical Associate and National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in the sensitization, the theme of this years International Day against Drug abuse and illicit trafficking is the Evidence of Clear; Invest in Prevention.
