The Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Dr. Gift Worlu, has presented a supplementary appropriation bill of ₦5.3 billion to the Legislative Council for consideration and approval.
Presenting the proposal, Dr. Worlu said the supplementary budget is intended to support the completion of ongoing projects and address emerging socio-economic needs in the council. He noted that the additional funds will help strengthen his administration’s capacity to deliver essential services to residents.
A breakdown of the budget showed that ₦2.2 billion is earmarked for recurrent expenditure, while another ₦2.2 billion is allocated for capital projects.
Dr. Worlu appealed to the councillors for accelerated passage of the bill, saying prompt approval would enable the council to sustain development efforts across Obio/Akpor.
Responding, Leader of the Legislative Council, Rex-Milia Abuchi Amadi, commended the chairman for his transparency and assured that the proposal will receive speedy consideration and approval.
