The State Chairman of NUT, LUCKY NKPONGONE gave this indication in response to an overture extended by the state government through the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education.
Speaking on “The Platform” here on this station; LUCKY NKPONGENE said the NUT was expecting the state government to show understanding with the suffering teachers who are being owed.
The NUT Chairman maintained that teachers in about thirteen local government areas of the state are being owed salaries up till July, despite taking part in the biometric exercise of the state government.
The NUT Chairman appealed to Rivers State Governor address the demands of public school teachers to avoid an industrial action that could paralyse the sector.
Correspondent CHINEDU IWUNNA reports that the permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education Doctor OGBONNAYA will lead the State government delegation for tomorrow’s meeting.
