The National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Rivers State has reaffirmed its commitment to social mobilisation, awareness creation, and value orientation to ensure active participation in the August 30, 2025 local government elections.
Speaking during a one-day roundtable discussion and sensitisation programme held in Port Harcourt, the State Director of NOA, Edward Banigo, said the agency would leave no stone unturned in taking its message to the electorate through diverse modes of communication and engagement.
He disclosed that NOA’s Community Orientation and Mobilisation Officers are already engaging people in their native languages within their communities to achieve effective results. Banigo stressed that the upcoming polls are critical to restoring democratic governance at the grassroots and accelerating socio-economic development across the local government areas. He also cautioned political parties, candidates, and their agents to adhere strictly to the guidelines of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC).
The NOA Director further advised residents to shun violence, as well as vote buying and selling, reminding them that their votes remain their power and must be used wisely.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the occasion, Chief Ellis Nria, Head of Egwe Amarukwala Unyeada Kingdom, commended NOA’s efforts and underscored the importance of citizen participation in the elections, noting that the outcome would produce representatives at the grassroots.
The theme of the roundtable discussion was Effective Citizens’ Participation in the August 30, 2025 Local Government Elections in Rivers State.
