The Rivers State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress has met with the Chairman of Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area, Dr. Shadrach Ogbogwu, to address the issue of eight months of unpaid salaries owed to council workers.
The meeting ended with both parties agreeing to resolve the matter through dialogue.
Following the discussions, labour leaders announced the establishment of a tripartite harmonisation committee comprising representatives of the council, the Nigeria Labour Congress, and the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees.
The committee, chaired by the Head of Personnel Management of the council, Gladson Ogwe, has been given two weeks to resolve all outstanding salary issues.
Labour leaders expressed optimism that the agreement would bring lasting relief to affected workers.
