Nine Political Parties Collect INEC Access Codes for 2027 Candidate Nominations

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says nine registered political parties have collected access codes to enable them upload the particulars of their candidates for the 2027 Presidential and National Assembly elections.

INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Haruna, disclosed that as of the close of business on Monday, the parties that had collected the access codes are Accord (A), Action Alliance (AA), African Democratic Congress (ADC), All Progressives Congress (APC), Labour Party (LP), National Democratic Congress (NDC), National Democratic Party (NDP), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), and Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Haruna explained that it is the responsibility of political parties intending to participate in the elections to approach the commission to obtain the access codes, noting that INEC will not deliver them to party secretariats. He added that anyone collecting the codes on behalf of a political party must present a letter of authorisation from the party’s leadership.

He urged political parties to strictly comply with the commission’s candidate nomination guidelines, noting that party officials had already been trained on the nomination process. Haruna also advised parties against waiting until the deadline to upload their candidates’ particulars, warning that INEC would not be responsible for delays caused by late submissions.

INEC has fixed June 27 to July 11 for the submission of presidential and National Assembly nomination forms through its online Candidate Nomination Portal, while governorship and State Assembly nominations are scheduled to run from July 18 to August 8.
