The Director General of NIMASA, DAKUKU PETERSIDE disclosed this when he appeared on television programme monitored from Port Harcourt.
PETERSIDE said the initiative would enable the Agency to acquire some maritime assets which would be deployed at strategic locations for adequate security of the waterways.
While reeling out some of the achievements of NIMASA under his leadership, PETERSIDE said the agency has built a national network with the Nigerian Navy, which he said has enhanced its response capability.
The NIMASA DG also noted that the agency would be hosting the African Maritime Association conference in Abuja which is part of its efforts to be elected into the council of the International Maritime Organization in November.
