Nigeria’s economy and efforts to revamp the system are expected to top discussions when President MUHAMMADU BUHARI host the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, CHRISTINE LAGARDE.CHRISTINE LAGARDE will thereafter meet the Minister of Finance KEMI ADEOSUN, but there are no official confirmation of what would be discussed at the meetings.The IMF boss arrived in Abuja yesterday to a reception by representatives of the institution in Nigeria, as well as senior officials from the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of Nigeria.But the IMF issued a statement on LAGARDE’s visit to Nigeria, in which it said the four-day trip would be used to strengthen partnership with Africa’s largest economy.The IMF would also seek to address Nigeria’s economic challenges and the impact of falling oil prices, which has exposed Nigeria to depression.The IMF Managing Director said she believes that Nigeria is working hard to improve its business environment, promote opportunities for growth in the private sector and strengthen social cohesion.
