Nigerian troops have intercepted and recovered more than 400 Starlink satellite internet terminals allegedly used by Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists to coordinate operations across the North-East.
The Commander of Sector 2, Operation Hadin Kai, Brigadier-General Beyidi Martins, disclosed this while briefing defence correspondents on ongoing intelligence-led operations aimed at dismantling terrorist logistics and communication networks.
He said the devices, linked to Elon Musk’s SpaceX Starlink internet service, were recovered during sustained military operations in Sambisa Forest, the Timbuktu Triangle, and other identified terrorist enclaves.
According to him, the seizures are part of broader efforts by the military to cut off communication and supply chains sustaining insurgent activities in the region.
Martins added that troops are intensifying operations to disrupt logistics networks, including movement of food, fuel, medical supplies, and communication equipment used by terrorist groups to sustain their operations.
The military says the ongoing offensives have significantly weakened the operational capacity of insurgents across the theatre.
