Nigerian Senate Receives Several Petitions on Job Losses by Nigerians in Different Parts of the Country

Two of the petitions were received through Senator SAM EGWU from Ebonyi State and Senator DINO MELAYE from Kogi State, complaining about alleged wrongful dismissal of their constituents from the Nigerian Army.
The Senate also received another petition from Senator SHAABA LAFIAGI in which one of his constituents complained about being wrongfully sacked from a commercial bank.
In his ruling, the Senate President BUKOLA SARAKI referred all the petitions to the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petition, with a mandate to report back in two weeks.
It was also brought to the attention of the Senate that some Nigerians who were sent to study in Russia and the United Kingdom on government scholarship were having problems with the payment of their tuition.
The issue was raised by Senator OLUSOLA ADEYEYE under Order forty-two and fifty-two of the Senate Standing Rule, with particular reference to the Petroleum Development Trust Fund.
Senator ADEYEYE who represents Osun Central disclosed that Nigerian students were currently stranded in Russia, United Kingdom and Canada.
‎In the same vein, Senator JAMES MANAGER called for urgent intervention by the relevant agencies of government to address the sufferings of the young Nigerians scholars overseas.
‎In his ruling on the matter, the Senate President, BUKOLA SARAKI observing that some Nigerian students abroad have been forced to indulge in illegal activities due to the government shortcomings.
