Ex president Jonathan bags ECOWAS appointment

Former Nigerian president,  Goodluck Jonathan, has been appointed as a special envoy for Mali to resolve the political crisis in the country.

 The former President is expected to bring together key parties including President Ibrahim Keita opposition leaders, civil society as well as religious organizations for a dialogue on the crisis.

 

Jonathan's appointment was announced by the head of the West African economic bloc, ECOWAS Jean-Claude Kassi Brou.

 

Mali has been wracked by protests in recent weeks, with demonstrators demanding for President Keita to step aside over a raft of issues including disputed elections.
