Alhaji SA’AD ABUBAKAR issued the threat when he received in audience some Igbo leaders, including Doctor AHANTA MESHACH of the World Igbo Union.

The Sultan of Sokoto who doubles as the President General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs conceded to the calls for restructuring, which he said does not mean balkanizing or dividing Nigeria.

He said emphasis should be on making adjustments where necessary to ensure equal accommodation of all sections of the country in the spirit of equity and fairness.

The Sultan noted that the agitation for separation and disintegration of Nigeria by some people cannot solve the many problems bedeviling the country. 

On his part, the leader of the Igbo delegation said people of the South-East need to work towards ensuring proper reintegration and reconstruction as promised by the government after the civil war.
