The Police High Command has set up a special panel to investigate the payment of entitlements to police personnel in connection with the Ondo State governorship election.

The investigation is in response to complaints of discrepancies in payment of allowances to police officers who were deployed for the governorship election last month.

The special panel constituted by the Inspector General of Police, IBRAHIM IDRIS, is also to streamline and enhance the payment of entitlements to officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force.

This was made known in a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, DONALD AWUNAH.

According to the statement; the panel is to liaise with the Ministry of Finance on how to solve what is being considered as a perennial problematic nature of paying allowances.

Furthermore; the panel is expected to recommending where appropriate disciplinary actions against erring officers, both within and outside the force.

The panel would thereafter come up with standard modalities that will be adopted by the Nigeria Police Force to address payment of allowances given by the Federal Government for the conduct of elections in the country.

The Special Investigative Panel is chaired by retired Assistant Inspector General of Police, AHMADU ALI, with six members, including representatives from the Police Account and Budget, Office of Director of Finance, Office of DIG Operations, Office of IGP Project Monitoring Unit.
