The President of the Maize Farmers Association of Nigeria, South-South region, Godwin Ejiogwu has raised concerns over the abandonment of some crucial government assets in the agricultural sector.

Ejiogwu in an interview with Todayfm's Olawale Sanusi, expressed disappointment over neglect of the Rumuodumaya Feed Mill in Obio Akpor local government area, the Agro City Project and Banana farm in Etche L.G.A, the Korokoro Fish Farm and Poultry in Tai L.G.A, and the Andoni Fish Farm amongst others.

He highlighted the significant potential these abandoned projects hold for employment creation and additional revenue generation, if rehabilitated.

Ejiogwu emphasized that rehabilitating such abandoned projects would not only boost food production, but also help address food insecurity in the state.

Ejiogwu further appealed to the Rivers State government and the Office of the State Road Maintenance Agency to support rural farmers by improving on the road infrastructure, and also for loans to enable farmers participate fully in the fresh planting season.
