The Nigerian Army has established a Human Right Desk to handle related complaints involving officers and men of the force.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General TUKUR BURATAI commissioned the Desk with an assurance to Nigerian and international human rights bodies that the Nigerian Army under his leadership will investigate all cases of rights complaints brought before it.General BURATAI who was represented by the Chief of Civil-Military Affairs, Major General ROGERS NICHOLAS, said the event marks another important day in the history of the Nigerian Army.He said the Human Rights Desk was borne out of the increasing interest of local and international human rights groups in the anti-insurgency operation in the North East and other parts of the country.
