Rivers State Governor, NYESOM WIKE has hailed the Supreme Court judgment that affirmed his election victory on 11th of April last year.
Reacting to the apex court judgment of yesterday, Governor WIKE said it marked a victory for the rule of law and the people of Rivers State.
Governor WIKE, who went on the streets of Port Harcourt to celebrate his legal victory, said was a confirmation that the will of God will always prevail over the machinations of men.He assured the people of Rivers State that his victory at the Supreme Court will lead to greater delivery of democracy dividends across the state.Governor WIKE equally praised APC Governorship Candidate, DAKUKU PETERSIDE for approaching the judiciary to challenge the conduct of the election, instead of embarking on violence.Delivering a state broadcast after the Supreme Court victory, Governor WIKE called on PETERSIDE to join hands with his administration to develop Rivers state.Our Abuja correspondent, JAMES IGAH reported yesterday that the pronouncement by the panel of seven justices of the Supreme Court was greeted with jubilation by PDP supporters, who chanted victory songs and danced round the premises of the apex court.Counsel to Governor WIKE, EMMANUEL UKALA, who is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, also hailed the Supreme Court justices for the favourable judgment.Also speaking; WOLE OLANIPEKUN who is also a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and counsel for the PDP, welcomed the judgment.The reaction by AKIN OLUJIMI who is counsel to the APC and its governorship candidate, was very brief, as he described the Supreme Court judgment as the end of the road.Meanwhile; reports from across Rivers State indicate that PDP supporters continued their celebration of the Supreme Court judgment well into the night.
