Environmentalist call for end to fossil fuel extraction
Only a halt in the extraction of fossil fuel by oil multinationals can guarantee a healthy living of the people of oil producing states.
This is according to an Environmental Activist, Nnimmo Bassey who made the call during an Oil watch Global event in Port Harcourt where he blamed the high level of flooding and pollution in the Niger Delta region on oil exploration.
He also lamented over the destruction of bio-diversity, adding that the oil sector has only created employment for only one percent of the entire population in Africa.
