NECO release results of 2016 June/July Senior School Certificate Examination.

The examination body said over eighty eight point five one percent of the candidates obtained five credit pass and above, including English Language and General Mathematics.

The Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of NECO, Professor CHARLES UWAKWE, made the announcement in Minna the Niger State capital.

He noted that there was a twenty percent increase in the general performance of candidates in 2016, as compared with 2015.

The Registrar disclosed that nine hundred and five thousand and eleven  of the one million and twenty two thousand, four hundred and seven students that sat for the examination in Nigeria and other countries, got five credits and above while eighty four point five four percent obtained credit pass and above in English Language.

He also added that eighty point sixteen percent obtained credit pass and above in General Mathematics.

The Registrar attributed the increased performance of students in the examination to the contributions from NECO staff and his predecessors, who he said had laid a good foundation and the seriousness of the students.

The NECO CEO however disclosed that some schools were involved in mass cheating while some had been de-recognized by NECO for examination malpractice.
