N2.9bn fraud: Court jails Ex-NDDC boss’ aide, George Turnah, for six years

Turnah was a Special Adviser on Youth to former Managing Director of the Delta Development Commission, Dan Abia.

Turnah, Ebis Orubebe and Uzorgor Silas-Chidebere were arraigned by the EFCC in May, 2017 on six count charges bordering on, obtaining two billion, eight hundred and ninety- four million, five hundred thousand naira under false presence, money laundering, conversion of funds and forgery contrary to the Section of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006 punishable under Section one subsection three of the same Act.

Today FM’s Uchendu Ejiowhor reports that the trial Judge, Justice Abubakar Turaki-Mohammed, in his judgment found the accused guilty of the charges preferred against them by the Port Harcourt Zonal Command of the EFCC.

Justice Turaki-Mohammed convicted and sentenced them to two years imprisonment each making a total of six years, starting from the date of their arrest and ordered the first defendant to pay the sum of one million naira as an option of fine, while the second and third defendants are to pay five hundred thousand naira each into the consolidated Revenue Account of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
