ECOWAS leaders, who held a meeting in Liberia, said the implications of Morocco’s membership still needed to be considered before a final approval.
Morocco’s application comes after it was readmitted into the African Union in January; more than thirty years after it left the continental body in 1984 due to failure to recognize Western Sahara as an independent state.
