The Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, has commended Nigerian universities for recording their strongest performance in the 2026 Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
Alausa described the achievement as clear evidence that the Federal Government’s ongoing reforms in the education sector are beginning to yield measurable results.
He said the improved rankings reflect increased investments in higher education, enhanced research output, improved academic standards and institutional reforms across the country’s universities.
The minister reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening tertiary education through sustained policy implementation, funding, innovation and international competitiveness, expressing confidence that Nigerian universities would continue to improve their global standing.
