Our correspondent gathered that three individuals are contending for the top position, but one of them appears to be enjoying a greater advantage with the support of the Port Harcourt City Local Government authorities.
Following the development; the aggrieved groups in the market staged a protest in a bid to draw attention to alleged external influence on the forthcoming election of market leaders this weekend.
One of the contestants, VINCENT NNOKAM who led the protest, said the market union would resist any attempt to impose any individual against the wished of majority of the traders.
NNOKAM’s claim was supported by the Chairman of the Election Committee, CHISA AMADI.
NNOKAM and members of his group called on Governor NYESOM WIKE to prevail on PHALGA authorities to desist from delving into market union politics.
