The Centre for Disease Control is hoping to administer some five hundred thousand vaccinations in the cause of the campaign.
More than three hundred people have already died of the disease since late last year, leaving about three thousand suspected cases.
Zamfara has the worst case, while children of ages five to fourteen accounts for the highest number of those affected.
