Russia said the chemical gas that killed and injured dozens of civilians in the town of Khan Sheikhoun in Idlib province came from rebel weapons on the ground.

The Russian defence ministry acknowledged that Syrian planes had attacked the area, but said the aircraft struck a depot producing mines filled with a poisonous substance.

The United States and others said it was Syrian planes that dropped chemical weapons, which the Bashar Al-Assad regime in Damascus has denied.

Responding to Russian statement; United Kingdom’s Foreign Secretary BORIS JOHNSON, said all the evidence suggests it was the Syrian President Bashar Assad regime that illegal used weapons on their own people.
