May Day: Govt called to improve welfare of workers.

This was the view of a cross-section of Nigerian workers at the Abuja version of the May Day celebration which took place at the Eagle Square.

The respondents lamented that the current minimum wage was poor and could not take them anywhere, especially with the current recession in the country.

The workers, who appeared cheerful in the celebration of their contribution to the development of the country, noted that the government has to do more.

Our correspondent JAMES IGAH is on ground to monitor the proceedings and reports that midway into the presentation of goodwill messages, the event was disrupted when it was time to listen to the Minister of Labour and Employment, Doctor CHRIS NDIGE who sent in a representative.
