The MNJTF said the development is because of the superior firepower that has been unleashed on the insurgent group by ground troops and the joint air operation under Operation GAMA AIKI.

The spokesman for the group noted in a statement that the sustained offensive operations and blockage of logistics supply routes have helped to weaken the locations of the terrorists.

The defections were in Bagasola in the Republic of Chad, where a total of two hundred and forty suspected Boko Haram members surrendered, with arms and ammunition recovered from some of them.

The Commander of the MNJTF, Major General LAMIDI ADEOSUN has visited the area during which he addressed the Boko Haram defectors and their families.

With the latest development; the Multinational Joint Task Force has now recorded a total of four hundred and six four defections from the Boko Haram.

The revelations were made in a statement issued by the Chief Military Public Information Officer of the MNJTF, Colonel MUHAMMAD DOLE.
