The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has convened a meeting with leaders of political parties at its headquarters in Abuja to unveil and deliberate on new electoral guidelines ahead of the 2027 general elections. 🗳️
The meeting brought together chairmen and secretaries of registered political parties, alongside their representatives, to discuss preparations and strengthen collaboration for the upcoming polls.
Among those in attendance was Senator Nenadi Usman, representing the Labour Party. Also present were Abdulrahman Mohammed and Samuel Anyanwu, who attended on behalf of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
INEC said the engagement forms part of its early preparations for the 2027 elections, aimed at ensuring stakeholders are familiar with proposed guidelines and have the opportunity to make inputs before they are finalized. The commission also emphasized the importance of cooperation among political parties to guarantee credible, transparent, and peaceful elections.
The meeting is expected to continue with further consultations as INEC works with political actors to refine procedures and address concerns ahead of the electoral cycle.
