The management of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, IAUE, Rumuolumeni, Rivers State, has suspended all remaining Students’ Union Government, SUG, Week activities following reports of a security incident on the campus.
The university announced the suspension in a statement signed by its Registrar, Dr Chinonye Abraham Ajie, directing students to return to classes on Thursday, August 13, 2026, for normal academic activities.
The development followed reports that a 100 level male student of the Faculty of Education was allegedly shot during an incident on campus.
However, neither the university management nor the Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the reported shooting or provided details on the condition of the student.
The university’s decision to suspend the remaining SUG Week activities comes amid concerns over security on the campus.
