You will recall that TONYE PRINCEWILL had, among other things, said he preferred to work with former governor and Minister of Transportation, ROTIMI AMAECHI, than Governor NYESOM WIKE, having carefully studied the dispute between the two Ikwerre sons.
PRINCEWILL also claimed that the Peoples Democratic Party is for old politicians and there was no room at the top for the younger generation, based on which he called for mass exodus of youths from the party.
But PRINCEWILL’s comment has been described as unguarded by the Coalition of Rivers Patriots, which also condemned in strong terms his criticism of Governor NYESOM WIKE.
In a statement signed by THOMPSON BARILEDE, the Coalition of Rivers Patriots said TONYE PRINCEWILL was possibly not in tune with efforts by Governor WIKE to develop Rivers State over the past two years.
The Coalition of Rivers Patriots also noted that every Nigerian, including TONYE PRINCEWILL was at liberty to join any political party of their choice, but that should not stop them from appreciating the good work of those who are already justifying their mandate by Rivers people.
The group said TONYE PRINCEWILL’s claim that the PDP in Rivers State is for the old school is typically unguarded and lacking in facts.
The statement maintained that the PDP is party for both old and young, adding that anyone who is not blinded by mischief can see that even Governor WIKE is a young man.
It further noted that the Chief of Staff to the Governor is also a young man; his commissioners are predominantly young people, as well as members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
THOMPSON BARILEDE further noted in the statement of the Coalition of Rivers Patriots that the difference between Governor WIKE and his immediate predecessor is that he realized that the state belongs to all, and gives a sense of belonging to all Rivers people irrespective of their age.
The statement concluded by saying that the the amnesty initiative of the Rivers State Government is one of the programmes of the governor to secure the future of Rivers youths.
