German Chancellor ANGELA MERKEL says her country is in for change in coming year with the influx of refugees from Syria and Iraq.

MERKEL promised that her government would speed up asylum procedures and build extra housing with the help of a six billion euros pledge. The German Chancellor however said her country alone cannot solve the crisis, as she urged all European Union states to take in refugees. About twenty thousand migrants are thought to have entered Germany over the weekend, and additional eleven thousand are still expected to arrive in the country today. Similarly; President FRANCOIS HOLLANDE of France has offered to take in twenty-four thousand refugees. The French leader and his German counterpart want the European Union to support a plan that would make it obligatory for each country to absorb a fair share of migrants.
