The Rivers State commissioner of Police, MUSA KIMO has intervened in the protest held by a group of people from Rumuepke community in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers state. Addressing the protesters, the commissioner urged the people not to put laws into their hands but should direct their complaints to the appropriate quarter. A group of people from Rumuepke community in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State had staged a protest against multinational companies operating in the area. The protesters reportedly blocked a section of the East-West Road, obstructing the free flow of traffic, in a bid to drive home their demand for better community relations with the affected companies. A member of the community, UZORIGWE SERGEANT who confirmed the development to correspondent UCHENDU EJIOWHOR on telephone, said several appeal to the multinationals to change their ways had fallen on deaf ears. Among other demands, the people of Rumuekpe want to be considered for job opportunities in four multinationals operating in their community
