Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has urged the people of Bakana to remain peaceful and united in order to attract more development projects from his administration, beyond the ongoing Trans-Kalabari Road project.
The governor made the call in Bakana during the formal unveiling of the newly constructed Bakana Royal Palace by the Amanyanabo of Bakana, King Lawrence Odum-Barboy. He was represented at the event by a former Commissioner for Energy and Power, Damiete Herbert Miller.
Governor Fubara, through his representative, stressed that peace and harmony within the community would create an enabling environment for sustainable development and increased government intervention.
Miller described the Trans-Kalabari Road as a transformative project that would open up Bakana and other riverine communities to expanded economic activities and improved access to opportunities.
Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Degema Local Government Council of Traditional Rulers and Amanyanabo of Ke Kingdom, King Agolia Cookey Aboko, said the newly unveiled royal palace would help strengthen unity and improve relations between Bakana and neighbouring communities.
He noted that the palace would serve as a symbol of cultural pride and a centre for fostering peace, dialogue, and cooperation within the area.
