A former ally of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Collins Onunwo, has defected to the political camp of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Onunwo, a former Caretaker Committee Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, confirmed his defection after meeting with the FCT Minister in Abuja.
He said his decision followed the recent peace overtures extended by Wike to supporters of Governor Fubara.
According to Onunwo, his decision should not be interpreted as a betrayal of Governor Fubara but rather as part of the ongoing reconciliation efforts in Rivers State.
He maintained that his move aligns with the governor’s earlier position on promoting peace and political stability in the state.
