The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has warned motorists and members of the public against fraudulent text messages claiming that recipients have been recorded for new road traffic offences.
The Corps says the messages, circulated through mobile phones and social media, direct recipients to a fake website designed to impersonate the FRSC and create a sense of urgency. It specifically disowned the website being circulated, stressing that it has no affiliation with the agency.
The FRSC has urged Nigerians not to click suspicious links or provide personal, banking or vehicle information in response to such messages. It advised motorists to verify alleged offences through official channels and follow its warning: “Stop, verify, report.”
