FG to review political office holders salaries soon — RMAFC

A statement from the RMAFC noted that the Chairman of the Commission, Mohammed Shehu gave the assurance when he paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of Nigerian Governors Forum and Sokoto state Governor, Aminu Tambuwal in Abuja.

Shehu stated that the third schedule of 1999 constitution as amended, empowers the Commission to determine the remuneration appropriate to political, public and judicial office holders in the country.

He said the last time the remuneration review for these categories of Nigerians was carried out was in 2008 which makes it over due for review.

The RMAFC boss further lamented what he described as the poor remuneration of public, political and judicial office holders which has exposed them to corrupt tendencies.

Those whose remuneration will be affected include the President, Vice President, Ministers, Secretaries to the Government of the Federation, HoS, Chairmen of Constitutional bodies, Ministers of State and members of Constitutional bodies, Special Advisers including speech writers.
