The Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP) has commended journalists for their role in reporting environmental remediation activities in Ogoniland.
The Project Coordinator, Professor Neenibarini Zabbey, gave the commendation during an interactive session with journalists in Rivers State, held over the weekend to mark his third anniversary in office.
He stated that HYPREP will continue to maintain an open and transparent approach in the remediation of oil-impacted communities in Ogoni, noting that public communication remains central to the project’s success.
The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Rivers State Council, John Bazia, described Zabbey’s leadership as transparent, particularly in the way progress and challenges of the clean-up and livelihood projects are communicated.
Senior media professionals, including editors, publishers, and correspondents from print and broadcast organisations, attended the session.
