The Federal Government has announced that numerous Nigerian diplomatic and consular missions abroad are currently grappling with significant financial and operational difficulties. These challenges include unpaid staff salaries, mounting debts owed to landlords, and outstanding payments to various service providers.
Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, disclosed this in a statement, acknowledging that these issues have adversely affected the smooth functioning of Nigerian embassies and consulates in different countries. The ministry is reportedly working to address these challenges to ensure the efficient delivery of diplomatic and consular services.
