This was made known by the Minister in charge, Doctor OLUKAYODE FAYEMI while briefing newsmen in Abuja after the Federal Executive Council meeting.
The decision was part of the road map for the growth and development of Nigeria’s mining industry, which was adopted by the council at its meeting yesterday.
He said the road map, which outlines the contribution of mining to the growth of the GDP, is the vision of the administration of President MUHAMMADU BUHARI to diversify the economy away from oil.
The Minister said the road map which was an offshoot of a similar package in 2012, which came with the setting up of an independent agency to regulate the mining industry.
Furthermore; the Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by President BUHARI yesterday, also approved the renewal of the contract for electronic wallet technology platform for the delivery of fertilizers to small scale farmers in Nigeria.
It was also agreed by the cabinet that a bill for external borrowing rolling plan covering 2016 to 2018 should be sent to the National Assembly for consideration.
