Reports say fifty-eight-year-old LIPOLELO THABANE was killed by an unknown gunman while travelling home in the town of Masana.
A police spokesman CLIFFORD MOLEFE said the shooting happened outside the capital, Maseru, while another woman who was with LIPOLELO was wounded in the attack.
Before now, the opposition leader who is to be made Prime Minister had been living separately from his now slain wife since 2012.
TOM THABANE had filed for divorce, but it had not yet been granted by the courts.
