A coalition of Civil Society Organisations and Community-Based Organisations in Rivers State has called on the state government to sponsor an Executive Bill for the adoption of the Tax Reform Law.
In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Nasigba Peterside, the coalition commended the renewed collaboration between the Executive and the Rivers State House of Assembly following the presentation of the 2026 budget.
The group said the proposed reform would improve tax administration, boost internally generated revenue, reduce leakages and lessen dependence on federal allocations.
It also urged the government to embark on a public tax awareness campaign and ensure a fair and inclusive tax system that protects vulnerable groups while encouraging investment and sustainable economic growth.
