Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has expressed profound joy over the rescue of pupils and teachers abducted from Oriire Local Government Area, describing their return as a moment of gratitude and relief for the state.
The governor spoke after visiting the rescued victims at the Headquarters of the 2 Division Nigerian Army Medical Services, Odogbo Barracks, Ibadan, where they are receiving medical attention following their release from captivity.
Makinde disclosed that all 39 abducted pupils and five of the seven teachers kidnapped during the incident had been rescued and reunited with security personnel.
He thanked God for the successful operation and commended officers and men of the Nigerian Army, alongside other security agencies, for their professionalism and commitment in securing the victims’ freedom.
