The presiding Judge, Justice Turaki Mohammed in his judgment agreed with the PDP that the Labour Party did not comply with the Electoral Act while conducting four of the state House of Assembly primary elections.
Justice Mohammed also directed the Independent National Electoral Commission to de-list the names of the four affected Labour Party candidates including; those of Obi/Akpor one and two, Tai and Gokana states constituencies.
Today FM’s Uchendu Ejiowhor reports that Justice Turaki Mohammed however, did not agree with the PDP that the primary elections of the Labour Party that produced Ahoada East and West State House of Assembly Constituency candidates of the Labour party were not monitored by INEC.
You may recall that PDP had dragged the Labour Party in Rivers State and six state constituency candidates to court over their non-compliance with the Electoral Act while conducting their primaries.
In the meantime, counsel to the Labour Party candidates, Uche Olewunne has said the candidates will challenge the judgment at the Court of Appeal.
On his part, counsel to PDP, Dike Udenna said the judgment has further confirmed their position that INEC cannot include names of candidates that violated the Electoral Act.
Speaking after the court judgement, the Labor Party candidate for Ahoada East, Wisdom Odum who expressed excitement over his victory, however, assured that the party will appeal the cause of those who lost in the matter.
