The Dangote Group in a Twitter statement said the refinery will be producing Premium Motor Spirit popularly known as petrol, diesel, aviation jet fuel and Dual-Purpose Kerosene, among other refined products.
Speaking about the magnificent plant, the CEO Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals, Sanjay Gupta, stated that everything in this plant by way of size is the first. It is the largest single-train refinery in the world.
The launch of the refinery is expected to take place in Lagos State.
The Special Assistant to the President on Digital and New Media, Tolu Ogunlesi in a tweet earlier in January noted that the “Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical complex in Lekki sits on land that is more than three times the size of Victoria Island”.
The plant which is arguably Africa’s biggest oil refinery and the world’s biggest simple-train facility will no doubt create more employment opportunities for Nigeria’s teeming population.
In the meantime; a petroleum expert, Dankule believes the six hundred and sixty thousand Barrels per day Dangote Petroleum Refinery could help achieve macroeconomic stability in Nigeria.
Dankule who spoke when he appeared as a guest on a Television program, however, said he is uncertain if the refinery can sufficiently supply the amount of petrol consumed by Nigerians, as it is unclear the amount of petrol consumed by Nigerians per day.
He noted that the refinery is a significant milestone for Nigeria and will also reveal the true amount of petrol consumed by Nigerians per day.
