Australia court approves fifty-six million US dollars compensation to detained asylum seekers in Papua New Guinea.

The settlement offer was made in June this year after nearly two thousand men reported that they suffered harm in detention on Manus Island.

 

The government denied any wrongdoing but welcomed the deal, which is believed to be Australia’s largest human rights settlement, as a prudent decision.
