ASUU also said it had commenced mobilisation of its members across all the zones for a strike that would begin soon.
ASUU Coordinator for Bauchi Zone, LAWAN ABUBAKAR, who gave this indication during an event in Jos, Plateau State capital, faulted the announcement by the Minister of Finance, ZAINAB AHMED, that the Federal Government had approved the release of twenty billion naira for universities.
ABUBAKAR frowned at the refusal by the Federal Government to honour the agreement reached with the union.
The Port Harcourt Zone of ASUU has also warned the Federal Government against delaying the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding that arose from the 2017 agreement it signed with the union.
Port Harcourt Zonal Coordinator of ASUU, UZO ONYE-BINAMA gave the warning during a media briefing at the University of Port Harcourt.
ONYE-BINAMA also called for the Government Team involved in the renegotiation of the agreement to be reconstituted due to alleged ineffectiveness.
He said the union also wants Federal Government to create a platform where ASUU leaders will interface with State Governors on issues of under funding and alleged interference in the administration of Universities, among others.
