A Peoples Democratic Party presidential aspirant, Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, has warned that any attempt by the ruling All Progressives Congress to turn Nigeria into a one-party state will fail. In a statement issued in Lagos, Olawepo-Hashim accused the APC of using defections and political pressure to weaken opposition parties ahead of the 2027 elections. He said Nigeria’s democracy would only survive through strong opposition and credible elections. He urged Nigerians to resist actions that threaten democratic pluralism.
