The All Progressives Congress screening appeal committee in Rivers State has maintained that 33 aspirants were cleared for the party’s House of Assembly primaries. The committee chairman, Abdul Mahmud, said the panel is reviewing petitions from disqualified aspirants, including some notable party members, to ensure due process is followed. He admitted that confusion arose from the circulation of the clearance list on social media.
Some petitioners, however, insisted that the reasons given for their disqualification were not convincing. The APC in the state also distanced the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, from the party’s internal screening matters.
