GUMAU said padding has been a common practice by the leadership of the National Assembly even before he was first elected to the federal legislature in 2011.
However, GUMAU said he was not in support the stance of the former Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, ABDULMUMINI JUBRIN, but joins in calling for an investigation of the scandal.
The lawmaker, who belongs to the Transparency Group in the House, particularly mentioned that the controversial Film Village in Kano, which has now been dropped by the Federal Government, was a product of budget padding.
LAWAL GUMAU said it was erroneous for anyone to claim that all members of the National Assembly are corrupt simply because of the sin of a few individuals who make up the leadership.
